What Motorcycle Bag Should You Use?

With the battle of today's economy, more people are looking for ways to save money in as many ways as possible. One of the ways that people are saving money is by riding a motorcycle in order to save money on gas. You see more people on the road riding their motorcycles to work than you have in the past. In order to make carrying your items more convenient, there are several different types of motorcycle bags that can be attached to your bike. Finding a good quality leather bag can make a difference in how well protected you items are when riding. Some of the more popular leather motorcycle bags are saddle bags, sissy bar bags, windshield bags and tool bags.

The saddle bag and sissy bar bag are the larger varieties that can be used. The saddle bag is designed to attach and hang over the rear fender or passenger seat. Most are designed with two pouches, one pouch hanging on either side of your rear wheel. However, there are saddle bags for certain bikes that allow for an individual bag to be hung.

Sissy bar bags vary in sizes and can be found in sizes from as small as a tool bag to larger than a saddle bag. They attach to the sissy bar on the back of the bike or the back rest in some cases based on the design of the bag. The sissy bar bag is ideal not just for every day objects transported for work purposes, but can also be used to carry items needed for overnight stays such as a tent, sleeping bag or change of cloths.

In contrast, the smaller bags are the windshield bag and the tool bag. The windshield bag is attached to the front windshield on the inside so that you can store smaller items for safe keeping. Items would include your wallets, keys, cell phones or sunglasses for convenient access. The tool bag can be attached to either the front down tubs or front forks. The main purpose of the tool bag, although it could be used for other objects, is to store tools that may be needed to tweak or fix a bike if needed on a long trip.

There are other bags to be found, but saddlebag, sissy bar bag, windshield bag and tool bag are the most used by motorcycle enthusiasts. To find the bag that will suit your needs, determine what and where you will be riding your motorcycle and then determine what you would be carrying for those trips.
